Climb/ hike any degree of difficulty or mountain bike the powerful inspirational world. Discover the radiant mountain backdrop of the Rofan, the Wiedersberger Horn and Gratlpitz. 360 degree beautiful panoramic views.

The natural deep blue lakes in the area are perfect for swimming, boating, diving, splashing around or just relaxing. The more adventurous will find a lot of action with wild water swimming, tubing, rafting and kayaking in the gorges and canyons of the rushing mountain streams and rivers.

A large concrete skate park 'The Cradle' in Brixlegg 15 mins away that is another beauty. One of the best in Europe. Big smooth hips, spines, and corners will let you fly. This park also features the worlds first 'cradle'. It's a capsule that's over vert at the end of a bowl.

Walking

Mist clings to the pines, wrapping you into a mysterious world of green shade beneath the dripping canopy. Only the rattle of a distant woodpecker breaks the silence. The path zigzags uphill; at every junction the route is clearly marked, so there’s no need to bury your nose in a map. Sunlight filters through as you emerge onto a lush meadow, grass swaying in a gentle breeze that carries the evocative clang of cowbells. Underfoot, a carpet of wildflowers creates a dazzling display of colour. Marmots squeak and scatter as you pass.

You’re making for a wooden hut perched among the rocks, its cheery red and white flag bright against the aquamarine sky. Lunch is a traditional dumpling stew and a beer, enjoyed in the warmth of the hut’s terrace. It’s a chance to admire the view, which stretches over deep forested valleys to an abrupt wall of limestone peaks like the ramparts of a fairytale castle. Above and behind, sunlight glints on the glacial heads of the snow giants. This is just another day in Austria, and tomorrow promises more of the same.

With an unrivalled selection of rambler-friendly trails, cable cars that take the sting from the hills and a network of welcoming mountain huts, there’s nowhere more convenient to lace up a pair of boots. Yet the countryside itself is Austria’s real star attraction. The landscape is a rich tapestry of pastures and forests, clear lakes and high snow peaks that combine to make up the most unspoilt surroundings in central Europe. Austria is Alpine walking at its finest – once smitten, you’ll be in love for life.

WINTER FACTS

The gondola station is situated down the hill on the right. A 7 minute walk from Haus Hislop. The nearest lift is the T- bar lift which is a 2 minute walk down the hill. It takes you up to the tree line and the run down is a red one. You can ski back to the T- bar or ski to the gondola station that takes you up to the top of the mountain, The magnificent Wiedersbergerhorn. It's about a 15 minutes ride up. The meeting point for ski school is located very close by. The top of the mountain is where the blue runs are and for the intermediates and advanced, it is the starting point for red and black runs. You can leave your skis, poles and boots at the gondola station. Your boots will be dried and disinfected. It would save you from carrying them back to Haus Hislop. I do have a ski room though and if you come down route 5 and come to the T- bar lift (which is the first 'You tube' movie) then it would only be a 2 minute walk to Haus Hislop.

Haus Hislop built in 2006 is in Inneralpbach, 3 km away at the base of the highest mountain in the region – The Galtenberg.  A 6 hour hike to the peak. The Skiing Mountain - The Weidersberger Horn is a 2 minute walk away. (Where the nearest ski lift is situated) The resort has a new gondola which is a 7 minutes walk away.  It is an all year round resort.

Alpbachtal Valley has a population of 2,500 and occupies a beautiful location on a sunny plateau at 1,000m above sea level. Thanks to its homogenous architectural style and lovely floral decorations Alpach was voted "Austria´s most beautiful village" in 1983  on the occasion of the Entente Florale competition.

Every year since 1945 the village has been hosting the "European Forum Alpbach", an event which attracts leading representatives from the fields of science, politics, culture, and trade and industry. The new Congress Centrum Alpbach was built in character with its natural surroundings with an architectural style that points the way to the future. The community of Alpbach promotes and seeks harmony, beauty and cultural identity. Since 1953 all buildings have, by law, been designed and built in the traditional Alpbach style.

Spring, Summer and Autumn:

This is the perfect region for all kinds of activities and for all kind of ages. The serene and peaceful mountain resort is a place to relax and unwind with its stress free approach to life. Farming is it’s main industry (along with tourism) and it’s hard to believe that there are the same number of farms working as there were 100 years ago.

It is authentic and exciting. The hiking area with its 3 summer lifts and the mountain bike territory are challenges for all nature lovers, Water can be found in many facets. For instance in Tirol’s warmest bathing lakes, 3 adventure gorges and crystal clear drinking water. Action for kids: be it at the Juppi Kid’s Club or the adventure swimming pool – boredom will never be a problem

The region also has some sites of cultural interest such as Rattenberg known for it’s glass and historical small town atmosphere. Innsbruck is close by (a 40 minute drive) and Salzberg is (90 minutes).  These cities have the nearest airports.
