Fantastic apartment with fantastic views.  We had a brilliant time!  Top tips for future visitors:  the pool at the hotel in Inneralpbach will let you use their sauna complex and swimming pool (part indoor/part outdoor)  for €15.  Go about 7.30 in the evening, (it’s open until 9.00) and it’ll be empty.  Also if you’re a beginner skier look for the ski-weg on the Wiedersbergerhorn. It’s a lovely, easy track, but badly signposted!

Well Claire how do we start?    The place and the accommodation always sounded special from the day we booked – that feeling has not changed.  Your warmth, hospitality and good humour (oh & friendliness) have coupled with brilliant blue skies, excellent skiing – lovely apartment made this a wonderful Christmas holiday, “Zirmalm” fantastic recommendation (walk home not so good!!) – had 2 ‘brill’ evenings there (one shared with you)  Thank you for sharing the carol concert – your rendition of “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem” is something to behold!  I really admire both yours & Francis’s courage for taking on this venture and can only wish you everything you wish for yourselves and more. Haus Hislop is a wonderful place to stay.  So comfortable and convenient.  Local people with an authentic and local ambiance!  I LOVE IT!!!  We are going to come back in the summer and will recommend to all our friends!  Claire is the perfect host, she made us both feel so welcome, she introduced us to  the local “Neanderthal people” who made our stay unforgettable to say the least! After spending almost a week here at Haus Hislop it is going to be hard to leave!  When driving here, the first thing that struck us was the brilliant location – we couldn’t believe how close we were to the ski fields, and what a superb view to enjoy from the house!  After walking inside the apartment we were just as impressed.  It was perfect - modern, immaculately clean and offered everything we could need.  It was so nice to have such a warm, cosy place to come back to after a physically demanding day on the slopes.  Claire, you were the prefect hostess, all your help and information was very much appreciated.  We both really admire you for taking on this new venture and you should know that, together with your warm, friendly attitude, this holiday home you are offering is guaranteed to be a huge success!  We will be sure to tell all our family and friends about this little gem and we personally can’t wait to come back.  Thanks again for everything and best of luck for the future.  Nathan & Natalie.  Sydney, Australia- 19/12/08.

We spent a great week here! It’s probably hard to tell you about all the good things concerning Haus Hislop. Let me just however try: So, that will be conditions – all things one may need including DVD or a microwave. Place – a lovely house in, as they say the most beautiful village in Austria. Views – those from the windows as well as from the mountains nearby (never forget the trip to Wiedersbergerhorn : ) Skiing conditions – just surprisingly good. and most of all: CLAIRE. We are very, very grateful for the week, the atmosphere and simply the way you are! Just had a brilliant week here in Inneralpbach. Apartment probably the best we’ve ever stayed in, exceptionally clean, with everything shiny and new. Had some fantastic weather and some excellent skiing, but not exactly for beginners. Gondola within walking distance but ample parking near there if you want to take the skis down in the car. We were made to feel extremely welcome by lively Claire and we’ll probably come back once Andrea learns to ski better! Had some cosy nights in watching DVDs and playing games and we enjoyed the recycling guessing game – “ is it plastic, metal or another?” Thanks very much Claire and all the best for the future! I have really improved here. I have done all the black runs. Really enjoyed staying here. Thankyou very much Claire, love Jordon.

We are just at the end of a great weeks holiday at Haus Hislop. Claire was very welcoming and a great hostess. The apartment was clean and warm and easy to relax in after after exhausting days skiing. The area is very beautiful and here are plenty of places to visit but we concentrated on the slopes and skiing (but if you do have some free time, try and visit Rattenberg. Having the opportunity to order fresh bread to arrive in time for breakfast was good. Also having the option of putting the ca5r in the garage was a treat (our garage at home is full of junk so the car never gets a look in!) Thanks Claire for all your time and effort and we wish you well and hope to return.

We’re back!! How could we resist with such an endearing place and hostess (with the ‘mostess’) – like returning to see old friends – Inneralpbach and Haus Hislop with their beauty, warmth and gentle nature have found a place in our hearts (forever!) – this time have discovered more local secrets:- The butcher at Reith – great produce, warm smiles and lots of laughter trying out our Austrian!. The wine shop (Schwarzenberger and co) and good schnapps @ Brixlegg. Unterknolln (Radinger family) farmhouse bread and schnapps (Alpbach). Organic cheese shop for great locally produced cheese, milk, yoghurt and buttermilk. Baker at Brixlegg (turn right at the lights,aon corneron the left – also café for bread and pastries. Massage at the Galtenberg hotel (just down the hill). Luffermike – from mutter(?) at Zottohofs scary climb and dangerous milkshake (rum, rum, other alcoholic things and fresh milk from their dairy) – perfect end to a great week! XX

We’ve been to Alpbach before, but Haus Hislop is by far the nicest place to stay. We’ve had a great few days skiing – Adam loved the ski school and Alyson tried skis for the first time (3 years old!) Highlights were the powder snow on Wednesday, the swimming pool in Alpbach and having lunch up the mountain in the sunshine. Thanks Claire for making us feel so welcome and providing such lovely accommodation. We all look forward to coming again!

Despite arriving late (11.30) we were greeted with a smile and a full tour of all the apartment facilities and even got a cup of coffee made for us. The resort and skiing was great with loads of snow in the week. Kids enjoyed playing in the snow off the balcony behind the house. Everything great at Haus Hislop. Keep on touch.

Fantastic holiday. Arrived after 28 hours driving from Cornwall – absolutely fab to flake out in such a lovely apartment – love the fluffy white towels and bedding. Promise to recommend these apartments back in the UK. The snow has been perfect. The children have loved skiing to Inneralpbach. Even our 6 year old has skied 6 hours daily. With so much snow and skiing, it’s hard to believe we’ll be surfing at Polzeath beach next week…..it’s a tough life!! Thank you Claire for a great place to rest our weary bodies!. First family skiing holiday and what an excellent starting point! Superb facilities in apartments and really good coffee. Claire is so friendly and approachable for any queries or help. Such a fantastic location (our little boy thought we were in Narnia!!!) Such beautiful views from the apartment windows. Would recommend it to others and seriously think about coming back again as would think that the whole package this offers would be hard to beat. We’d all recommend Haus Hislop for its amazing location and views. The accommodation is fantastic, clean. Warm and has everything you need in the kitchen! The snowboarding and skiing has been great and Alex enjoyed the sledging with the other children – we think at one year old just it’s hard to tell. Mandy baby sitting service was great, Alex loved her and it enabled us to get a couple of hours boarding together. We’ve all had a great holiday with our friend, good local food, good company and great beer – and staff who don’t seem to mind 8 noisy brits with 5 even noisier children. A superbly equipped apartment in a superb location in a great resort! Claire is a most welcoming and informative host with great local knowledge! The local food was top notch, with pizzas at Joe’s. The mixed grill at the Zirmalm and the excellent selection at the wiedersbergerhorn hotel. We have had 4 seasons in 6 days and couldn’t have asked for better. A faultless week’s holiday for a family which we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone!!

This is our second holiday now at Haus Hislop and both have given us some of our best holiday experiences ever. Fantastic accommodation, views, hospitality of the locals. The mountain walking in August was amazing. Our first experience of skiing has exceeded our expectations.

Austria is lovely! We love Alpbach as it is so quiet and peaceful. We didn’t come to ski but had a lovely time walking and having day trips the the top of mountains or ski lifts! Would recommend a trip to Zugspitze and definitely to Kaprun where there are 3 gondolas and lots of nice views. Salzburg is also lovely to walk around. We will come to Austria again to explore a different area one summer time!

Well, we had a great few days at Haus Hislop! Claire gave us an old Austrian game. It was excellent! We were able to feed and look at the birds with the bird seeds and binoculars that Claire gave us. She also showed our mum and Dad fab places to go! She couldn’t have been more helpful and kind to us! We will definitely be coming back again.  Kara age 9

We had a fantastic break in Austria, we really enjoyed the location. The accommodation is modern and really clean. Claire we found to be a great hostess and gave us plenty of tips on where to go. We enjoyed our visit to Salzburg and really liked Rattenberg. We will definitely come back and try the skiing on the next break.

We needed a peaceful, relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we had. The apartment was well equipped. Modern, clean and tidy. The views were superb, looking over the village to the mountain. Claire was the perfect hostess, looking after all our needs, even placing a vase of fresh cut alpine meadow flowers on the table. She knew all the places to go and things to do. The area is full of activities, walking, sightseeing, cycling, paragliding and in such beautiful surroundings. We certainly hope we can make it bank to Alpbach and “720 Haus Hislop” again. We’ve has a fantastic time here, apartment 4 was everything we could have asked for with beautiful views down the valley. It’s been a great base for our trip and we would particulary recommend; Krimmler Waterfall (a 2 hour walk up the waterfall). Steam train from Jenbach to Achensee, with boat trip on lake, for really relaxing day. Cable car up Zugspitze in Germany, along with walks in this beautiful valley. (Ridge walk from Wiedersbergerhorn to standkopf and back to Inneralpbach was a highlight). Thankyou Claire for making our holiday so enjoyable – you have been a great hostess and really deserve an Oscar!!! We wish you every success with Haus Hislop.

We came to Haus Hislop after staying in Switerland & Italy and found our “Jewel in the Crown”. Austria has always been one of the worlds best kept secrets to us and you and your Haus Hislop have made it eben more special! Apt 4. Lovely modern & clean apartment, great balcony for even greater views! A week of fantastic weather, very hot during the day with some rainy or cooler evenings – ideal – but maybe we were just lucky! Austria is stunning and we will definitely come again but probably drive down. We will stay @ Haus Hislop, you are made to feel very welcomed & Claire is at hand if you need her – but also doesn’t make you feel like you can’t ‘be yourself’ in your rented apartment, which is great. Had a great time at Haus Hislop for the past nine days. The location is excellent and the accommodation is wonderful – very clean and equipped with everything you would need. By far and away the best part of the holiday though was getting to meet you. You made us feel at home straight away and were always there if we had any questions. I even learnt a new skill – how to use an ironing machine! We both hope to see you again soon and are sure that over time Haus Hislop will become the success it deserves to be.

We arrived in the rain but it didn’t matter, we were so impressed with the place. Claire made us feel right at home. The place (unit 4) was so clean and adorable that we got all a cosy night right away! We ended up getting rained out for the first half of our time here but we still did so much. We visited the big castle – Neushwaistein (spelling?) and Rattenburg, Innsbruck and Salzburg. Austria is just lovely, even in the rain : ) The flowers need watering anyway….. They are so beautiful here. The sun did come out for the last half and we lived it up! We went for hikes and sat by one of the beautiful lakes and rode the gondola. We really would love to come back here to ski! Claire, thanks so much for your hospitality and keep in touch.

Oh flip, what can we say. We’ve had a great time and done so much, even stayed an extra 2 days!! Been to Ellmau waterpark three times, absolutely fab for the children, so much to do there alone, relaxing for the adults too. Been to Rattenburg, Kitzbuel (up the cable car). Alpbach indoor pool (the children do like to swim!). Up Alpbach cable car for a walk to the top of the  mountain and so much more. The vicinity is perfect, the apartment amazing and so much home from home!! Claire has been a fantastic host, totally bonkers!! (That’s a good thing in Yorkshire!!). We are booked in again in January for what I’m sure will be an equally fantastic holiday, if not better. Can’t wait.

This was my first trip to Austria, although I have travelled through years ago. It is really beautiful, stunning scenery. Walked almost to the top of the Galtenburg – views fantastic – arduous on the was down. On our first walk, bumped into some old friends we hadn’t seen for ages – didn’t know they were here. Haus Hislop (and particularly Claire) have been very welcoming. Very clean, everything we needed, comfy bed. Will be back, maybe to ski here. Will see if we can have an apartment at the front of the house next time. Thankyou Claire for being a lovely, friendly and helpful hostess. Can recommend gorge walk at Brandenburg, although we were caught in a thunder storm. The weather has been exceptional; has just changes last night. Will recommend Haus Hislop!. This was a special week for us – a break from our eight children! We had a wonderful week in the Tyrol. Loads to do for everyone. The ‘Wave’ waterpark was great for the children. Lots of lovely swimming pools too! Claire has thought of absolutely everything you could want for the perfect stay. The views are amazing and the sun terrace is highly recommended for a late afternoons lazing about. The weather was perfect, but there are so many things to do in the area that I’m sure there would have been plenty to keep us dry if not. Would love to come back, summer or winter; the only bad thing was we could only stay a week! Sorry to leave but looking forward to another visit sometime.

Having read all the previous comments, we are delighted to be joining the ever increasing ‘Claire and Haus Hislop’ fan club. After arriving last Saturday, we quickly came to the conclusion that we must plan a return trip, having been so impressed with Claire and what’s on offer. We have a wonderful week enjoying such beautiful surroundings and lovely accommodation. There have been many highlights and the ‘icing on the cake’ arrived last night in the form of SNOW! Today we enjoyed sledging using ‘dustbin lids’ kindly supplied by Claire which gave us such good fun. The other, unexpected bonus, was meeting Claire who is charming, zany and enigmatic and made us feel very welcome. Thankyou for your friendship and your help throughout the two weeks. You are the heart and soul of Haus Hislop – you helped us with any big or small request-. Your personal touch and big heart give our holiday an exceptional experience from the sleigh ride to taking me out for a night on the town at the Postalm (5.30 – what a laugh). The skiing has been excellent – the Austrian ski school (Orban) was out of this world – does he really know where the piste is? Really good accommodation. Apartment 2 – was excellent and private. Haus Hislop is a gem, but Claire makes it sparkle and come alive.

This is our second visit to ‘Haus Hislop’ having spent nine wonderful days here in July ’08. So taken by the area, its beauty and authentic Austrian feel, that we brought our friends for the winter season. The children (four) have spent a week in ski-school (Alpbach ski school) and they have gone from absolute beginners to experts on the slopes, even off-pisting. We have had a fantastic time. The weather has been great, good snow mid week. Claire has been exceptional once again, nothing is too much trouble. Same time, same place, next year. Yo! Yo!

What a fantastic week we have had at Haus Hislop – The Penthouse apartment is great – so spacious and comfortable and fantastic views. The last check, a week before arriving gave us the same feeling with the coordinates on our ‘friend’ Tom Tom we were bringing at the front door. The first evening there was already a click. We have eaten the most of this evenings together or we were sometimes with the five of us with John and Lilian. When we were with the both of us we still talking English. When will you start talking German or maybe Dutch?. You will not get rid of us and we’ll be visiting you more than once. We wish you all the best with your company and till the next year! Fantastic location, great snow, good facilities and comfortable homely accommodation. Claire with her friendly and very helpful approach made us feel welcome and at home. We would recommend haus Hislop to our friends and families as a good holiday location. If you want peace and quiet Haus Hislop offers it all. Zirmalm restaurant is traditional and friendly with superb food. Try the schnapps that smelt like cabbage, Claire says if manage two, your mad! (We must be mental). Postalm restaurant in Alpbach is just as good. We had private lessons with Bob (skischule Alpbach) who was friendly, patient and good fun. If your not scared of heights, take a stroll up to the Wiedersbergerhorn (2128m) and write your name in the book by the cross. Vies are fantastic. Then ski down route 5 fro a pleasant, ear breaking silence and stunning views, right back to the umbrella six bar.

Haus Hislop was our second home during the week we spent in Inneralpbach. Our apartment was very comfortable, just perfect for our needs. And what is the most important – Claire is absolutely fantastic person – very friendly, open and could feel as the family visiting our lovely friend. Dear Claire, just to say a big thankyou for all your help! From the info and photos you sent when deciding whether to book. The reason we did say a lot about you and your helpfulness. The apartment was very pretty and in an ideal location to the slopes. Alpbach is only a short drive away with plenty of pubs and places to eat. I would defo recommend the resort but especially Haus Hislop to friends. Thanks again for making it home from home.

I’m Claire’s Dad, Mum – Andrea and I have come with Claire’s sister Caroline, Andrew and their children Erin (9) Lydia (7) and Will (4) (Spivey. We have stayed for a week – visiting Claire, whom we miss so much in England as she has to be here. We have has a wonderful week with Claire. The children have all learned to ski rather well with only 6 days instruction from Eppy and Danielle at the ski school. Of course Claire got me doing jobs on the house but I suppose that’s what Dad’s are for! We leave tomorrow, and just can’t wait to see her again. Looking back in this book Claire seems to be doing something right! Well done Claire, keep it up!

Hi Erin here. I had an absolutely fantastic holiday at my Auntie Claire’s house. It’s very sad that we don’t get to see Auntie Claire as much as we used to. She loves it when we visit her! I started ski school on Monday and I loved it! My sister and brother, (Lydia and Will), weren’t very keen at first but they soon started to enjoy it! I also loved going up in the gondola to the mountain. I had a lovely time in Austria and I’m 100% sure that I’ll visit again! I wish we could come every month to see Auntie Claire. I miss her SOOOO much! Love you Auntie Claire!

We had a great 4 days skiing in Inneralpbach despite Mediterranean weather! The big thaw started while we were here but it was still immensely enjoyable. During our stay there was no ski slopes or lifts open, only a few restaurants (none in Inneralpbach) and pretty much everything has shut up for the end of the season….. BUT even considering these factors, Claire made sure we had the best holiday of our lives….We really did! Just goes to show what an amazing location, lodging and hostess Haus Hislop has….we can only imagine how extra awesome everything is when we return in season. From the very beginning Claire has been soooooo helpful and managed to answer all of our 10 billion, million questions (sorry). Claire has helped arrange taxis, trains from/too airports, getting to and from restaurants….she made sure we had the basics in the fridge on arrival…. (cheese, milk and fruit). The bakery service was closed during our stay but Claire even gave us the bread/pastries/croissants she had in her own freezer…which saved us an hour walk to Alpbach (Spar). Claire has lent us her own hiking poles to climb the Gratspitze mountain (which saved my life on many occasions….and I am still aching terribly from). She even offered to lend me her ski jacket (as stupidly only brought a thin waterproof) and our first day was very chilly…but the rest of our stay we felt like we needed to be walking around in bikinis and trunks! Claire lent us her bike lock, phrase books, cookbooks even offered to lend us her ski equipment, bike and asked if we would like to use the bath in her apartment. Which was soo friendly of her. Claire made our anniversary very special by booking ahead at the Alphof restaurant (yum!) and requesting they make is as romantic as they can…she booked taxis for us again too… Our first day at Haus Hislop we walked down to Alpbach (Claire offered us a lift in with her friend). We bumped into Claire in Alpbach and had a lovely drink in the sun together. This is when Claire realized we were photo crazy after looking through the 300 photos or so we has taken from Haus Hislop to Alpbach alone ha ha. The walk from Haus Hislop into Alpbach is great, it really gave us the chance to take in our surroundings (AMAZING; BEAUTIFUL) and get to know the area a bit better. Messnerwirt (next to the church in Alpbach) is great place to get a drink, lunch etc, we had pizzas, they were yum! Claire recommend we visit Reith and go to the lake, which we did and spent a beautiful day sun bathing by the lake surrounded by mountains, bliss. Claire also recommended we visit Brixlegg and Rattenberg…which again we did…and had a lovely day wandering through the towns, stopping at cute shops, cafes and restaurants learning a bit of history. Apartment 4 is great, equipped with everything you could possibly need. The most spectacular views, even under floor heating in the bathroom (which ruled!) Spacious and so homely. Haus Hislop is a great location for everything with beautiful surroundings. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, we love Alpbach, we love Haus Hislop, we love Claire! We feel so at home here and really do not ever want to leave L EVER! It’s okay though, we will be back, we have to come back because I need to arrange/tidy your insanely messy desktop and Tom needs to get your veggie allotment started up behind the house. Claire has been a tour guide, the hostess with the mostest and most of all a great friend!!! Thankyou so much for everything you have done and just making our holiday absolutely awesome in general THE BEST!  Lots and lots of love Thomas AKA your secretary and gardener! We will 1000000% be back here, we have to get our ski legs….and schnapps. Sorry about taking up your whole book. We will have to buy you another next time we are here! Ha ha.
